GACR Legal Network Events: Shaping Tomorrow’s Lawyer Advocacy

Welcome to the Events page for the Georgia Association of College Republicans Legal Network (GACR Legal Network), the official Georgia chapter of the College Republican National Committee. GACR Legal Network aims to provide focused leadership, organization, and training to the next generation of conservative lawyers, offering students every opportunity to promote conservative principles through the practice of law. GACR Legal Network provides unparalleled engagement and leadership opportunities for legal students across Georgia through a full slate of events throughout the year; legal education, political activism, and professional development are all covered. Please find below important information regarding upcoming events aimed at empowering legal students to improve as advocates in the conservative legal tradition. Ensure that your application arrives before the deadline (more detailed deadlines are listed below), and be prepared to join hundreds of like-minded conservative legal advocates at events across Georgia.
Signature Annual Events: Save the Dates
Each year, GACR Legal Network hosts a series of impactful events featuring students, campus activists, and successful legal practitioners from around Georgia. Our cornerstone events are:
- Annual Georgia Legal Leadership Conference: Each September in Athens, GACR Legal Network’s flagship event gathers over 400 students, alumni, and guest speakers for a day of legal workshops, panel discussions, and keynote addresses from leading conservative attorneys and judges in Georgia. Students gain practical training, network with mentors, and stay up-to-date on the latest legal trends affecting Georgia and beyond.
- Spring Legal Advocacy Summit: Each March at the University of Georgia, our legal summit focuses on grassroots legal activism. Students attend legal case simulations, advocacy training sessions, and policy debates to prepare them to confront real-world legal issues on campus and beyond.
- Statewide Legal Networking Reception: Each November we host a formal networking event in Atlanta for students to meet with legal professionals, Republican Party representatives, and alumni. We include a career fair, resume reviews, and breakout panels on legal career opportunities.
These cornerstone events are open to all members of the GACR Legal Network, as well as prospective guests. Registration details and the event schedule will be posted for email list subscribers.

Here’s a taste of who we’re bringing in next semester:
- Legal Skills Bootcamp – August 17, 2024, University of Georgia, Athens: This intensive workshop covers foundational skills in legal research and writing as well as advocacy and argumentation before our members’ peers, with an eye toward college chapter legal activism. Attended by practicing lawyers and law students, this event is perfect for new members and those considering law school.
- Campus Legal Chapter Launch Week – August 26-30, 2024, Statewide: Kick off your academic year with chapter opening events, info sessions, and guest speaker appearances at schools throughout Georgia. Get to know fellow members and chapter officers as well as learn how to get involved in campus legal activism.
- Election Law & Voter Protection Training – September 21, 2024, Atlanta: This annual training equips students interested in volunteering on legal and poll-monitoring teams during Georgia’s election season. Topics include protecting voter rights, monitoring polls for malfeasance, and reporting violations of law at polling locations.
- Conservative Legal Thought Speaker Series – Monthly, Sept-Nov 2024, Hybrid (in-person & virtual): This series brings scholars, judges, policymakers, and practitioners of conservatism to discuss constitutional law, interpretive philosophy, and the hottest topics in the legal canon from a conservative yet original viewpoint.
All events are free for our members; some are open to non-members and the general public.
Instructions and details are always shared via listserv OBS:[email protected] (for our rapidly-growing lawyer members) and on social media.
Professional Development and Networking Journeys
In addition to our major conferences and workshops, GACR Legal Network also actively invests in the career and personal development of each member. Every semester we host:
- Legal Internship and Clerkship Fair: Meet representatives from leading law firms, government agencies, and public interest organizations recruiting summer/fall clerks and interns. Hear about summer slots, academic-year placements, and get guidance on how to apply.
- Alumni Mentorship Nights: Connect with GACR Legal Network alumni who are active attorneys, judges, and policy professionals. These events provide practical tips on how to apply for law school, select a career path, and practice the legal profession as a conservative leader.
- Mock Trial and Moot Court Tournaments: Play a role as litigator in friendly competitions judged by practicing attorneys and professors. All levels of experience are welcome-these events are a rewarding highlight for members interested in honing trial skills, public speaking, and legal reasoning.
Participating in these events benefits not only your résumé, but also your confidence and your network of relationships with Georgia’s legal and public policy community.
Activism Initiatives: Making an Impact on Campus and Beyond
GACR Legal Network is about legal education and activism: giving members the tools and opportunities to effect change in their own communities and help shape our state:
- Grassroots Legal Activism Drives: Organize or participate in your campus campaign for legislative support, constitutional awareness, or voter outreach. Be part of a Legal Action Team for the state legislature helping to develop conservative legal initiatives.
- Legal Observation Programs: Volunteer as an election watchdog, court monitor, or public policy hearing observer. All programs provide training to prepare volunteers to observe and testify in these venues, ensuring the organization can represent itself with professionalism and dignity.
- GACR Legal Network Advocacy Day at the Georgia State Capitol: Every spring, students go to Atlanta to communicate with lawmakers, observe their committee hearings, and lobby for student-centered legal action initiatives. It’s an intensive experience learning how the legislative process works while also communicating the needs of Georgia’s conservative student body.
Activism events like these empower students to put theory into action, furthering GACR Legal Network’s goal of serving Georgia’s communities.
